CENTER SET TO DEBUT
Construction is nearing completion on the Overland Park Convention
Center. The $46.5 million project is in a suburb of Kansas City,
Mo., just over the Kansas state border. The new venue will have
60,000 square feet of exhibit space and 14,000 square feet of
meeting space, along with a 25,000-square-foot ballroom. One month
after the November 2002 debut of the center will be the opening of
the new 412-room Sheraton Overland Park.

SCOUTING FOR SITES
A feasibility study supported the construction of a new convention
center in New York’s capital city. Currently, Albany’s largest
dedicated exhibit space is a 26,000-square-foot hall within Empire
State Plaza. Three sites are being considered as possible locations
for the new project. Meanwhile, the Hudson River Way, a pedestrian
mall, debuted this month, linking Albany’s downtown to the Hudson
riverfront.
