THREE RESORTS OPENING
The 500-room Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort, offering 100,000
square feet of meeting space, debuts this month just south of
Phoenix. On the northeastern edge of Phoenix, the JW Marriott
Desert Ridge Resort and Spa is to open next month with 950 rooms
and 170,000 square feet of meeting space. And in November, the
750-room Westin Kierland Resort and Spa, near the border of Phoenix
and Scottsdale, will open with 60,000 square feet of meeting space.
Huntsville, Ala.

NEW NIGHTLIFE TO COME
Electric Avenue, a $10 million entertainment district, is being
built in Huntsville, midway between Birmingham, Ala., and
Nashville. Scheduled to open in spring 2004, the project will
include 11 restaurants and clubs ranging from fine-dining eateries
and a martini bar to a karaoke club and a sports bar. The
attraction will be directly across from the Von Braun Convention
Center, which offers 170,000 square feet of meeting space.
