The Knoxville Convention Center
Site of the 1982 World’s Fair, this Southeastern Tennessee town
is getting serious about meetings. October 2002 saw the opening of
the Knoxville Convention Center, which has 119,922 square feet of
exhibit space, 14 meeting rooms and a 461-seat lecture hall. The
surrounding parkland will be restored by year’s end.
Major hotels here include the 385-room Marriott Knoxville,
317-room Hilton Knoxville and 293-room Holiday Inn Select
Downtown.
A popular side trip for up to 225 guests is a journey on the
Three Rivers Rambler steam train. The leisurely 12-mile roundtrip
excursion can make a stop at the Ramsey House, built in 1797 by
Colonel Francis Alexander Ramsey. The venue hosts tented lunches
for up to 1,000.
