Northstar Meetings Group has revamped its business-events awards programs, consolidating Meetings & Conventions' Gold Awards and Successful Meetings' Pinnacle Awards into a new, comprehensive program in which finalists will be established via online voting and winners will be judged by an expert panel of industry professionals.
The Stella Awards, honoring excellence in the meetings industry, will recognize hotels, convention centers, conference centers, airlines, cruise lines, destination marketing organizations and destination management companies. The awards in 18 categories and six regions will celebrate overall excellence, superb food and beverage, the professionalism of the staff, technology innovations, and other critical aspects of the meetings and event experience.
"We decided it was time to take a new approach to how excellence in the meetings industry is identified and celebrated," said Lori Cioffi, senior vice president and chief content director for NMG. "By leveraging our new online platform, our extensive database, a robust judging process and the enthusiasm meeting planners have for the destinations, hotels and other service providers who have supported them, we hope our process will shine a light on the truly outstanding organizations in our industry."
"Planners rely on their peers for recommendations," noted David Blansfield, executive vice president for NMG. "Accessibility, facilities, staff, service, activities are always changing in our industry. By tapping into the broadest possible universe of planners annually and curating their choices, the Stella Awards represent a timely, credible approach to identifying and honoring excellence in meetings and business events."
Finalists in each category will be determined by industry professionals during an open voting period, and Stella Award winners will be selected by an expert panel of judges overseen by the editors of M&C and Successful Meetings.
