Key spot: Radisson Suite Resort on Sand Key
No need to travel to the Southern tip of Florida for a visit to
the Keys. On a tiny barrier island south of Clearwater, Sand Key is
a slice of the tropics within easy access of St.
Petersburg-Clearwater or Tampa airports.
The island itself has few diversions, yet there’s not much
reason to leave. The 220-room Radisson Suite Resort on Sand Key
offers a 7,500-square-foot conference center, where five of the 11
meeting rooms have views of Clearwater Bay. Jimmy Buffet would be
at home at the open air bar, just off the free-form pool. A
resident parrot, Lisa, greets guests in the lobby.
Directly across the street from the resort is the Gulf of
Mexico, a gorgeous beach and the 390-room Sheraton Sand Key
Resort.
