Under a sunset glow: Vancouver from above
With its sleek glass high-rises and mountain vistas, Vancouver,
in Canada’s British Columbia, soon will be a bigger draw for
meetings.
Plans call for more than tripling the exhibit space at the
Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre, which now offers
91,000 square feet. A time line has not yet been announced.
The city’s 13,000 guest rooms are found in a green, walkable
downtown. Properties range from the boutique-style 197-room
Metropolitan to the 735-room Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre.
Motifs that reflect the First Nations’ history are ubiquitous
here. To see the real thing, stage an event at the Museum of
Anthropology. Banquets for 350 can be held amidst massive,
centuries-old totem poles.
