Planners’ Peeves and Priorities for Site Selection

Among all the reasons why meeting planners would avoid a destination, unsanitary conditions and bad publicity are particularly troublesome, according to a new study from STR, the Hendersonville, Tenn.-based research firm. In terms of environmental deterrents to site selection, unsanitary conditions (cited by 86 percent) and an unsafe environment (84 percent) were the top two, followed by high hotel-room costs (63 percent), "inappropriate for business meetings" (60 percent) and high F&B costs at the venue (59 percent).
