Toronto set a new record in 2014 by booking the highest number of future hotel room nights for meetings in the city. Tourism Toronto confirmed that 665 future events will bring 463,400 attendees to the region, generating 640,345 room nights. Of those meetings, 16 are considered "major meetings," with more than 2,000 attendees at multiple hotels expected. In 2019, the American Educational Research Association will come to town bringing some 14,400 attendees, and the Perfect China event will be held in 2016, with 5,000 attendees expected. Last year, meetings were responsible for injecting more than $550 million into the city's economy.
