The 157-room Alexander Hotel, a Dolce property, opened downtown in March, part of a $155 million mixed-use community known as CityWay and one of only two city hotels certified by the International Association of Conference Centers.
The 424-room Omni Severin will complete a $15 million renovation in time to commemorate its 100th anniversary later this year. Phase one, which finished in 2011, updated guest rooms and meeting space. Now attention is being directed toward the lobby and the three bars and restaurants. The hotel has a total of 17,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
The 395-room Sheraton Indianapolis Hotel at Keystone Crossing rapped up a $16 million renovation to the guest rooms and all 30,000 square feet of meeting space.
A recent expansion of the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium brought the combined exhibition space at the two facilities to 749,000 square feet.
The 1,006-room JW Marriott Indianapolis opened in 2011 within the $450 Marriott Place development downtown. The 34-story hotel features 55 meeting rooms spanning a total of approximately 104,000 square feet of meeting space, including the 40,500-square-foot JW Grand Ballroom.
The Indianapolis Cultural Trail (indyculturaltrail.org) has been completed. Geared for both pedestrians and bicyclists, the trail runs past nearly every hotel and cultural venue in the city, along with the convention center. The city invested $2 million in the public art that dots the trail, and bike rentals are available for a nominal fee.
