Outrigger Hospitality Group is purchasing the 432-room Kā‘anapali Beach Hotel, an 11-acre beachfront resort on Maui in Hawaii. This transaction is expected to close July 26, 2023, at which time the property will be rebranded as the Outrigger Kā‘anapali Beach Resort.
“From Maui to the Maldives, Outrigger is bullish about our mission to be the premier beach resort company in the world, simultaneously elevating our current assets and strategically adding complementary resort products to our global portfolio,” said Jeff Wagoner, president and CEO of the hotel company. “Outrigger’s investment in a full-service Maui resort underscores our confidence in this iconic destination and our commitment to its community... Our intention, once the sale is finalized, is to craft a thoughtful plan to further enhance the resort grounds while retaining unique attributes that guests have cherished for years.” Outrigger was founded in Hawaii 75 years ago and currently owns and/or operates 26 resorts, hotels and vacation condos throughout the island chain.
A $75 million propertywide renovation of two guest-room wings was recently completed at the resort. Among its amenities are a dozen Hawaiian cultural classes, as well as a full menu of ocean activities such as outrigger-canoe paddling and snorkel tours. Dining at the property includes a beachside restaurant and a poolside grill. For groups, the hotel features more than 6,000 square feet of event space.
The Kā‘anapali Beach Hotel has instituted several high-impact sustainability initiatives, including the installation of solar panels, charging stations for electric vehicles and water-refill stations.
Also as part of this transition, Outrigger will take ownership of the Plantation Inn – an 18-room bed and breakfast in Lahaina Town, steps from Maui’s famous Front Street. Currently, no changes are planned for this adults-only property.
