Pinnacle Entertainment has shelved its Sugarcane Bay casino resort project, adjacent to the company's L'Auberge du Lac Casino Resort in Lake Charles, La. The development was expected to cost $305 million and feature a new single-level riverboat casino; 400 guest rooms and suites; dining and lounge venues; a multipurpose venue for entertainment and meetings, and an expanded spa. According to a spokesperson, Pinnacle will focus on its existing facility, enhancing the guest experience and marketing efforts, and improving property operations. However, the company did reaffirm its commitment to developing a new property in Baton Rouge, La., which will feature approximately 1,300 slot machines, 50 table games and a hotel with 100 or more guest rooms.
