Oceanview lounging at the Turtle Bay Resort's Nalu Spa on Oahu, Hawaii
Since reopening to the public in July 2021, Oahu's 1,300-acre Turtle Bay Resort has been renovating quietly around the property, finishing up the project this year with work on the 11,000-square-foot Nalu Spa and fitness center.
Every aspect of the resort's interior has been reinvented, taking design cues from nature, while the pristine grounds and land around the property received a few slight updates.
The 410 rooms were redesigned by L.A.'s Dianna Wong, and have ocean views from every room type, including suites and the Ocean Bungalows. Turtle Bay Resort now has two presidential Ali’i Suites, with two full baths, two balconies, two living spaces and a walk-in closet.
The revitalized spa's wellness treatments, using local ingredients, are available oceanside in outdoor treatment rooms, new cabanas, and the Nalu Seaside Hale, a private hut on the edge of the water. The terraced pool deck now features an adults-only pool, a kids’ pool with two waterslides and a redesigned family-friendly pool with new cabanas.
The now light-filled lobby has had walls replaced with windows to create panoramic views of the beaches, surf and sky in all directions, and features a new lobby bar, Off the Lip, facing out to the sunsets.
The renovation also introduced new restaurants, including the signature Alaia, featuring fresh produce from the resort's Kuilima Farm. The new Ocean Club Lounge provides guests with upgraded amenities, a designated concierge, sunset views from the lounge, and a host of services, including daily breakfast and lunch, and nightly libations with light fare.
The 469-acre farm, operated by Pono Pacific, supplies Turtle Bay Resort and other local restaurants with 2,000 pounds of produce each week.
