A recently completed, multimillion-dollar restoration at the 335-room Omni Mount Washington Resort & Spa in Bretton Woods, N.H., is enhancing the appeal of one of New England's most iconic meetings and incentive destinations.
The propertywide renovation extended to guest rooms, public spaces and amenities throughout the 125-year-old resort, all while preserving its historic charm.
"This transformation of the hotel honors our storied history while reestablishing Omni Mount Washington as a true travel heirloom," said Michael Medeiros, managing director of the property.
Meetings, improved
For planners, however, the most significant updates might be those aimed at the group's overall experience — on top of renovating all 200 guest rooms in the resort's historic wing, Omni refreshed the 30,000 square feet of meeting facilities, including the 6 ,900-square-foot Grand Ballroom and the 3,619-square-foot Presidential Ballroom, with updated finishes, lighting and layouts geared toward serving today's event attendees better.
While the project didn't add new meeting space, the upgrades help modernize key event venues. For organizations seeking a resort setting with a strong sense of place, the investment allows Omni Mount Washington to offer a more contemporary experience without sacrificing its heritage.
Modernizing the hotel rooms
Guest rooms have been updated with contemporary conveniences, such as refrigerators and coffee makers, supported by extensive electrical infrastructure improvements. The enhancements help alleviate a common concern planners face when booking historic hotels, which is whether guest accommodations will meet present-day expectations.
The renovation also focused on spaces that support networking and attendee engagement outside of formal sessions. A former business center and retail space, for example, was converted into Labrador Tea & Coffee — an all-day café intended to serve as a central gathering place for guests. The project also included updates to the Great Hall and reception areas, providing refreshed settings for less formal gatherings. The Cave, a prohibition-era speakeasy, also was redone.
Elsewhere on property, the spa was upgraded and the fitness center was expanded. As corporate groups place increasing emphasis on wellness offerings and unique off-the-clock experiences, these amenities could strengthen the resort's appeal for executive retreats, incentive programs and leadership meetings.
