Uber Beefs Up Travel Partnerships

The car-sharing app Uber announced new partnerships today with United Airlines and Sabre's TripCase, both of which took advantage of Uber's new application-programming interface to incorporate Uber's functionality into their respective apps. United, the first airline to announce the integration, makes Uber ride requests possible through the United app on either iOS or Android devices. Travelers can view Uber's available car types, estimated wait times and prices via United's app; upon selecting a vehicle, travelers are then automatically redirected to the Uber app. For an introductory period, United customers who register with Uber and book a ride via the United app will receive 1,000 MileagePlus miles. TripCase, a free travel-logistics and itinerary app from Sabre, now offers integrated Uber bookings as well. What's more, the app relies on traveler itinerary data to offer Uber's car services to travelers when it's most appropriate during their trips, and will automatically fill in the pickup and drop-off locations, based on the itinerary, should the traveler choose to book through Uber. The Uber functionality is now live in both apps. The new announcements build on Uber's recent partnerships with Concur's TripLink and American Express Corporate Card services.
