New Bermuda Tourism Authority Appoints CEO

Veteran destination management organization executive Bill Hanbury has been named CEO of the Bermuda Tourism Authority, the organization that will replace the country's Bermuda Department of Tourism in April. Hanbury has served as CEO of several convention and visitors bureaus, including Destination DC, the Greater Milwaukee Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Hilton Head Island Chamber of Commerce. Most recently, he served as CEO of the United Way of the National Capital Area. The Bermuda Tourism Authority was created last month, when the government decided that the organization responsible for bringing tourists and meetings to the country should be an independent body rather than a department of the government.
