Live Casino & Hotel is expanding its portfolio with a new property in Petersburg, Va. Expected to open in late 2027, the hotel will feature 200 guest rooms and a 70,000-square-foot event center. Gaming amenities will include 1,600 slot machines, 70 table games and a 35-table poker room. Plans also call for 20 dining and entertainment outlets, a resort-style pool, a spa and a fitness center.

About 30 miles south of downtown Richmond and Richmond International Airport, the Central Virginia property also will be 45 miles north of the North Carolina border. A topping-out ceremony for the project was held last week and a temporary gaming facility opened on the site earlier this year.

"The topping out of Live Casino & Hotel Virginia is a defining moment for this project and a significant milestone in the continued expansion of the Live! brand nationwide," said David Cordish, CEO and chairman of the Cordish Companies, which owns and operates the Live Casino & Hotel brand. “With its scale, quality and breadth of offerings, Live Casino & Hotel Virginia will establish a new standard for gaming, hospitality and entertainment in the Commonwealth.”

A Growing Brand

When it debuts next year, Live Casino & Hotel Virginia will become the fifth property in a brand that has expanded rapidly in recent years. The first Live Casino & Hotel opened in Hanover, Md., in 2012. Nearly a decade later, two properties debuted in Pennsylvania: a Pittsburgh location opened in 2020, followed by Philadelphia in 2021. The most recent addition, in Bossier City, La., began welcoming guests in 2025.

Officials say the Virginia location will create 1,600 permanent jobs and generate $2.8 billion in economic stimulus for the region within the first 10 years.
