Hospitality giant Hilton has inked a strategic partnership with China's Country Garden Hotels Group that will result in numerous Country Garden properties in China being managed by Hilton, many of which will be flagged either as DoubleTree by Hilton or Hilton Garden Inn Hotels. The deal gives Hilton a local partner to assist with its expansion efforts in the country.
Half a dozen properties are part of the agreement to start, such as the existing Hilton Wuhan Optics Valley and Hilton Foshan. New hotels in the deal will include the DoubleTree by Hilton Hainan Lingshui, DoubleTree by Hilton Guangzhou Zengcheng and Hlton Zhengzhou Xingyang. Country Garden's portfolio features more than 120 hotels, either already open or in the construction and planning stages.
"Country Garden is a widely admired property developer, and we are thrilled to be extending our partnership with them," said Hilton CEO Christopher J. Nassetta. "Ultimately, our goal is to provide exceptional experiences to our guests wherever they may be, and through this partnership, we have an opportunity to bring Hilton's signature hospitality to even more locations across the country."
The success of the Hilton properties in Wuhan and Foshan played a significant role in Country Garden extending the partnership, according to a spokesperson for the Chinese hotel group.
Hilton already has a strong footprint in China, with 470 hotels either open or in development. The company has 266 projects under construction.
