The former Park Central hotel has undergone a $70 million transformation.

Hyatt Regency San Francisco Downtown SoMa King

Following a comprehensive, $70 million renovation, the former Park Central Hotel has been rebranded and is now operating as the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Downtown SoMa. The 3rd Street property is just two blocks from Moscone Center and centrally located in the South of Market neighborhood, near Yerba Buena Gardens and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art

The redesign includes upgrades to the property's 686 guest rooms, among them the 20 Executive Corner Suites and two Presidential Suites. The 3,200-square-foot, renovated fitness studio features a wealth of new gym equipment, including Peloton bikes. All 30,000 square feet of meeting space has been updated, as well.

A gourmet grab-and-go marketplace and coffee bar (a collaboration with Bluestone Lane), full-service lobby bar, a restaurant and a new Regency Club are all expected to open later this month.

In leading the hotel's redesign, the bicoastal firm BHDM Design used art as a motivating factor, inspired by the property's location in the Arts District. BHDM and the hotel have collaborated with the nearby Academy of Art University, commissioning artwork from select students and alumni in the form of sculpture, digital motion graphics, photography, mixed media, painting, drawing and landscape architecture. The work will be displayed in the hotel's ground-floor public spaces, as well as in the Executive and Presidential Suites and throughout the hotel's event space.

Among the property's meeting space are 16 function rooms, two ballrooms and several breakout rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows.

Guest rooms feature a residential design with abundant natural light, creating the feel of an urban retreat. All have a 55-inch smart TV, a tech hub with multiple ports for USB and wireless charging, a refrigerator and a coffee maker. The renovated, large, black-and-white-tiled bathrooms feature custom vanities and lit mirrors.
