JW Marriott has opened its first hotel in Tampa, Fla. The JW Marriott Tampa Water Street also marks a major milestone for the luxury hotelier, as its 100th global property.
The 519-room hotel is set along the waterfront, in between the Tampa Convention Center and the Amalie Arena — home to the Tampa Bay Lightning hockey team. The property features a rooftop pool, a spa with 10 treatment rooms, and two restaurants. The Driftlight Lounge serves small plates sourced with local ingredients, along with handcrafted cocktails. Meanwhile, Six offers modern Bistro fare, with indoor and outdoor dining that overlooks the pool area and the Bayfront.
The JW Marriott Tampa Water Street features 100,000 square feet of event space, including the largest hotel ballroom in Tampa Bay at 30,000 square feet. Meeting planners can also book the Skybox, a suspended conference room that "floats" above the lobby and can accommodate up to 25 people. A skybridge connects the hotel to its sister property, the Tampa Marriott Water Street, which offers an additional 40,000 square feet of event space.
"We couldn’t be more proud to introduce JW Marriott’s 100th hotel in a city that has emerged as one of Florida’s most exciting destinations in recent years — Tampa," said Bruce Rohr, vice president and global brand leader of JW Marriott. "With its seamless integration into the vibrant Water Street neighborhood, modern design and luxurious amenities inspired by the principles of mindfulness, JW Marriott Tampa Water Street is a shining example of our brand’s continued excellence and our legacy of exceptional service."
