Florida's Sawgrass Marriott Is Undergoing a Resortwide Renovation

The Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., is in the midst of a $25 million renovation encompassing all 511 guest rooms, plus the pools, exterior and spa.

Begun at the end of 2015, the project is scheduled for completion in September. Highlights include a new restaurant, the American Gator Club, opening in March beside the TPC Sawgrass golf course, and an updated façade that will be completed in May, featuring oversized sliding windows instead of Juliette balconies. The guest rooms are being expanded to include 30 additional square feet per room and will be refreshed with new bedding, carpet, lighting and bathrooms; 31 "butler serviced" rooms and suites are being added in a new VIP wing that will be attended to by private butlers.

The Sawgrass Spa is adding two couples treatment rooms and three new hair-and-makeup stations, while the pool area will debut a new SurfStream wave simulator for onsite surfing. Those improvements will be complete this summer, along with renovations to the resort's beachside Cabana Club, which is being updated with a new entrance, fresh landscaping, a new roof, and resurfaced pools, patios, and walkways.

The resort already has completed several other enhancements, having updated the front desk, replaced the fitness-center equipment, refreshed the landscaping, and renovated the primary resort pool with new surfacing, lighting and built-in fire pits for making s'mores.
