The 1,065-room Sheraton San Diego Resort on Harbor Island has completed a multiyear, $123 million renovation with the debut of the 3,600-square-foot Garden Terrace, bringing the hotel's total indoor and outdoor event space to more than 132,000 square feet.

The new outdoor space features a lush lawn, a pool and a bar, and accommodates events for up to 250 people.

"We are overjoyed to unveil the new Garden Terrace, which beautifully put the finishing touches on Sheraton San Diego’s impressive transformation," said Sean Clancy, vice president and general manager.

Tower and F&B upgrades

In November 2024, the resort unveiled the reimagined 717-room Marina Tower, featuring fresh décor inspired by the natural palette of the coast. Previous phases of the renovation also welcomed five new dining concepts:

  • Rumorosa: Overlooking the marina, serving Cali-Baja inspired dishes with Mexican wines and agave spirits, complemented by live music;
  • Brewery X: Relaxed atmosphere with crafted beverages and chef-driven bar bites;
  • Shorelight: Italian-American favorites with great views of the San Diego skyline;
  • Sunglow Cabana Bar: Seasonal poolside dining featuring SoCal-style shareable bites and frozen drinks; and
  • Strada Italian Market: Offering Italian specialties, gelato, coffee, pastries and grab-and-go items

Staying sustainable

In 2010, the Sheraton San Diego was the first property in the United States to receive the Green Seal Gold certification, and the resort continues its environmental stewardship through its On Purpose initiative, working hard to eliminate single-use plastics, reduce energy and water consumption, and divert waste from landfills. Sustainable investments include zero-emission electric shuttle buses, an EDC hot-water control system to reduce natural gas consumption, and an on-site Hydrogen Fuel Cell, which provides more than 80 percent of the resort's electricity. In February, Sheraton San Diego was presented with the "Good Earthkeeping Award" by the San Diego County Lodging Association, for outstanding sustainability efforts in the regional hospitality industry.

Water activities and more

The Sheraton San Diego Resort offers a host of diversions, such as stand-up paddleboarding, jet-skiing, kayaking and boat tours at its on-site marina. Guests also can take outdoor classes that are offered daily; play tennis, pickleball and basketball; go biking; and take a walk or a run on the harborside paths. Seasonal lawn games, dive-in movies and nightly s’mores roasts by the marina also are available.

The property also features 46 boat slips in the harbor marina, three outdoor pools and two fitness centers.
