Unions Reach Agreement at McCormick Place

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 134, and the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Local 2, also known as stagehands, have reached an agreement on which jobs their members can perform at McCormick Place and Navy Pier, according to the Chicago Tribune. The electrical workers' union agreed not to enforce its contracted right to install lighting and sound systems on McCormick Place stages, allowing exhibitors to use union stagehands for the work instead. The new labor deal might help cut costs for trade shows and thus boost convention business in Chicago.
