Westin Tempe to Debut in August

The 290-room property will be the largest to open in the Arizona city in decades.

The 290-room Westin Tempe, slated to open in August, will be the Arizona city’s largest new hotel in nearly four decades.

Right downtown, the hotel hopes to blend the city’s vibrant atmosphere and unique local culture with biophilic design (taking elements such as air quality, thermal comfort and acoustics into consideration), part of the brand’s signature Wellness at Westin focus.

Meeting planners will have 21,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space to play with, and the property will offer three dining concepts. The signature restaurant, Terra Tempe Kitchen & Spirits, will serve a menu of contemporary Southwestern cuisine using local, seasonal ingredients and flavors; the 18th floor will feature the Skysill Rooftop Lounge, the valley’s highest open-air rooftop bar, which will offer a menu of shareable plates and craft cocktails; and Cup of Joe Market Café, a casual bistro, will sell grab-and-go meals and merchandise.

Patti Hunt and Ryan Kirby, seasoned members of the Arizona hospitality community, have been appointed as the hotel’s general manager and the director of sales and marketing, respectively. “Our brand-new hotel will fill a niche in the market for travelers who are looking not only for an elevated experience, but a premium wellness hotel brand that will empower them to control and enhance their well-being while traveling,” said Hunt. “We look forward to being the optimal retreat for leisure guests and business professionals alike.”

The hotel is adjacent to Arizona State University and within walking distance of the historic Mill Avenue District, as well as some of the city’s best shopping destinations, culinary offerings, entertainment centers and major local landmarks, including Tempe Town Lake, “A” Mountain (Hayden Butte) and Tempe Beach Park.
