Breeze Airways lands in Las Vegas

Breeze Airways, the low-fare airline founded by aviation entrepreneur David Neeleman, who founded JetBlue, landed its first flight in Las Vegas on June 9, and announced its 11th route, from Akron-Canton, Ohio, to Las Vegas, which will begin in October.

The airline will operate all Las Vegas flights with a fleet of Airbus A220s. Breeze plans to more than double its number of planes this year, from 13 Embraer 190 and 195 aircraft to 30 aircraft, including 14 Airbus A220s and three additional Embraer E-jets. Breeze has ordered 80 new Airbus A220-300 aircraft, which will be delivered one per month over the next six years, with options for 40 more.

The carrier will begin service from Akron and nine other destinations throughout 2022, offering economy, premium economy and business class, named Nice, Nicer and Nicest seats. Nonstop flights eventually will be available from:

  • Richmond, Va. (Thursday and Sunday, available now);
  • Syracuse, N.Y. (Friday and Monday, starting June 10);
  • Fort Myers, Fla. (Wednesday and Saturday, starting June 11);
  • Norfolk, Va. (Thursday and Sunday, starting Aug. 4);
  • Huntsville, Ala. (Thursday and Sunday, starting Aug. 4);
  • Charleston, S.C. (Friday, Saturday and Monday, starting Aug. 5);
  • Hartford, Conn. (Wednesday and Saturday, starting Sept. 7);
  • New York-Westchester, N.Y. (Daily, starting Sept. 8);
  • Jacksonville, Fla. (Thursday and Sunday, starting Sept. 8);
  • Provo-Salt Lake City, Utah (Daily, starting Oct. 5); and
  • Akron-Canton, Ohio (Thursday and Sunday, starting Oct. 6).

"It’s a really exciting day today, as Breeze arrives in Las Vegas for the first time," said Neeleman. "And with our 11th new nonstop here, more people than ever can get to Vegas nonstop — for really low fares."

"We welcome Breeze Airways’ announcement of roundtrip service between the Akron-Canton and Las Vegas markets," said Ohio Governor Mike DeWine. "This new route shows confidence in the growth of the Akron-Canton Airport and provides access to a top tourist and convention destination."
