The Carté Hotel, a 246-room luxury property that's part of the Curio Collection by Hilton, opened for business in San Diego's Little Italy neighborhood. The LEED Silver-certified property is just a couple of blocks from the city's Gaslamp Quarter and about a mile from the San Diego Convention Center.

The hotel's interior design pays subtle homage to the area's origin as a fishing village. Design firm the Manchette Studio incorporated a nautical theme with sea-blue tones, natural wood elements and copper accents in both the guest rooms and public areas.

A rooftop lounge and bar, Above Ash Social, is outfitted with fire pits and communal seating, and provides memorable views over San Diego Bay as well as a heated saltwater pool. Also on-site is a wine-tasting room, Fonte di Vino, with a menu that includes a long list of Italian wines, as well as local selections from Southern California and Northern Mexico.

Guest rooms are outfitted with high-speed Internet; 55-inch 4K TVs that can stream programs from smartphones; refrigerators, and luxury bedding. The on-site 28,000-square-foot Fit Athletic Club provides full-service fitness facilities to guests.

Also on offer is 8,500 square feet of event space, including seven venues that cater to small to midsize groups for meetings or social gatherings.
