Ritz-Carlton Hotel Debuts in Portland, Ore.

The 251-room luxury property, the brand's first in the Pacific Northwest, features 17,000 square feet of meeting space.

The Ritz-Carlton, Portland, has been unveiled in the Oregon city, a 35-story, 251-room luxury hotel that is the brand's first property in the Pacific Northwest.

“This project has been an extraordinary collaboration between the brand, ownership and the Portland community,” said general manager Marie Browne. “We have worked alongside local and regional artisans, purveyors and tastemakers to create an authentic Pacific Northwest experience, providing a new destination for locals and visitors alike.”

The 460-foot crystalline tower designed by GBD Architects features a white base inspired by the columnar basalt formations in the region. Along the perimeter, a cascading series of stormwater planters capture rainfall. Inside, Roam Interior Design aimed to marry wilderness with modern luxury. Guests are welcomed into Forest Hall, a lush lobby decorated with rustic logs bound with copper, maps depicting Lewis and Clark’s western journey, cozy seating areas and a library lounge with a fireplace.

Up the grand staircase is Meadowrue, a lobby bar with floor-to-ceiling windows serving as a coffee bar by day, with Coava Coffee Roasters' Urban Forest Blend, exclusive to the hotel, on the menu. In the evening, light bites, craft cocktails and bespoke mocktails are served.

The guest room design features vertical fabric panels, luxury leather goods and modern interpretations of historic travel trunks. The Ritz-Carlton Club can be found on the 20th floor, offering five meal presentations a day, and is filled with one-of-a-kind handmade items and local artwork.

On the 19th floor, Cloudbreak on Nineteen is home to Hidden Mountain Lake Infinity Pool, a zero-edge infinity pool with panoramic views of the Cascade Mountains, as well as the Ritz-Carlton Spa, whose design is inspired by the unfolding petals of a Portland rose. The space features five treatment rooms and a range of treatments. A 4,000-square-foot fitness facility and yoga studio are also on the 19th floor.

The hotel’s signature restaurant, Bellpine, draws inspiration from Oregon’s Willamette Valley, as well as the state’s farms, ranchers, rivers and the Pacific Ocean. An extensive selection of libations includes Oregon wines and unique spirits crafted by the region’s master distillers.

The dedicated events floor, Ascending Mount Hood, offers more than 17,000 square feet of meeting space. The natural light–filled rooms, designed to reflect the beauty of Mt. Hood, accommodate gatherings of all sizes.
