Sheraton Waikiki Completes $200 Million Room Renovation

The multiyear project at the Oahu resort in Hawaii tackled all 1,636 rooms.

A multiyear, $200 million renovation of all 1,636 rooms has been completed at the oceanfront Sheraton Waikiki on Oahu in Hawaii.

About 80 percent of the rooms at the property offer ocean and Diamond Head views, and there are more than 130 suites. Beyond the rooms, the project upgraded the hallways and elevator landings on guest floors, the resort's function spaces and its retail experiences.

"We're thrilled with the results of the renovations and are beyond excited for our guests to experience the beauty, comfort and aloha spirit that the Sheraton Waikiki offers," said area general manager and managing director Tom Calame.

Guest rooms now have state-of-the-art closet areas, and new pūne'e (daybeds) and work tables on their lanais (balconies). Accommodations range from standard double rooms to oversized rooms with three queen-sized beds to suites that accommodate up to six people. The reconfigured Ohana Suite features two bedrooms, two baths, two lanais, a living room, a dining table and a pull-out sofa.

Among the hotel’s amenities are three eateries, several snack outlets, family and adults-only pools, and 75,070 square feet of event space. Rumfire, the signature restaurant, serves an eclectic resort menu and offers indoor and outdoor dining overlooking the ocean, Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head.

Waikiki Beach Services at the Sheraton Waikiki provides rentals of umbrella sets, surfboards, stand-up paddle boards and boogie boards. Surf and stand-up paddling lessons are available throughout the day. Off the beach, guests can lounge by the adults-only Edge Infinity Pool, or the family-friendly Helumoa Playground family pool, which has a slide, a fountain and other water features.

The Sheraton Waikiki is a LEED Gold-certified hotel offering EV-charging stations, water-refill stations, smart-timer irrigation systems, indigenous plant species in the landscaping, and recycling of all green waste. Hotel guest rooms use smart thermostats, recycled paper products, LED lights and green cleaning chemicals.
