Upscale glamping company Under Canvas will expand into New Mexico next year with the opening of Under Canvas Santa Fe, a 640-acre retreat featuring dedicated event space and full-property buyout options.
Set to debut in April 2027, the property will be Under Canvas' 18th location and its first in New Mexico. The project will mark several other firsts for the brand as well, including a dedicated event tent, hard-sided cabins and on-site saunas.
Meetings in the high desert
The centerpiece for groups will be an 1,885-square-foot event tent, which will accommodate 80 guests seated or 130 for receptions. An adjoining 1,605-square-foot open-air deck will provide additional gathering space, and on-site catering will be available.
Groups also will be able to arrange a full-camp buyout of the property's 45 tents for programs of up to 130 guests, providing planners a unique option for corporate retreats, incentive trips and other exclusive gatherings.
Under Canvas Santa Fe, about 30 minutes from Santa Fe Plaza, will put attendees within reach of the city's galleries, restaurants and cultural attractions, while providing a secluded setting for meetings.
Accommodations and activities
Guest accommodations will include 45 safari-style canvas tents; temperature-controlled, hard-sided cabins will be built once the property is open. The canvas tents will feature en-suite bathrooms, private decks, king-size beds, wood-burning stoves and in-tent cooling. Accommodations will range from Deluxe and Stargazer tents to larger suites, including two-tent configurations with adjoining decks.
For off-agenda activities and team-building programs, the camp will offer on-site hiking and biking trails, live music, yoga and programming with local artists. New on-site saunas will supply an additional wellness option.
The property will border the nearly 10,000-acre Galisteo Basin Preserve, where attendees can access 44 miles of public trails for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. Guest Experience Coordinators will be available to arrange outdoor and cultural excursions, including hiking, rafting and visits to Santa Fe galleries and historic sites.
Six-month season
Under Canvas Santa Fe will operate seasonally from April through October, with reservations now available for its inaugural season. Nightly rates will start at $279, plus taxes and fees.
“Santa Fe is one of the great American destinations — a place where art, culture and cuisine are deeply connected to the landscape,” said Noah Brodsky, Under Canvas CEO. “We’re excited to bring our signature outdoor experience to New Mexico and create a new way for guests to experience this remarkable region, from exploring the trails of the Galisteo Basin, and discovering Santa Fe’s galleries and culinary scene, to gathering around the fire beneath the open night sky.”
