Christian promoted at Hospitality Inc.
Hospitality Inc., a San Diego-based company specializing in catering and event planning, has promoted Frank Christian to executive vice president. Previously, he served as president of Picnic People Services Inc., an event company owned by Hospitality Inc. In his new role, Christian will oversee the parent company's operations, customer relations and quality control.

Herrin joins Yum! Brands Inc.
Daphne Reid Herrin, CMP, has been hired as manager of the meetings and events team for Louisville, Ky.-based Yum! Brands Inc. She will coordinate all company meetings and assist with planning those held by the company's various brands. Before accepting the position, Herrin worked as an events manager for Atlanta-based Home Depot.

Mary Beth Baluta has joined the Cincinnati USA Conven­tion & Visitors Bureau as regional sales director. She is based in Washington, D.C.

The Southwest Washington Convention & Visitors Bureau has hired Kelsey Chappelle and Lisa Going-Green as convention sales managers.

Dana Henderson
was named event planning manager at the 141-room Normandy Farm Hotel and Conference Center and its sister venue, the Blue Bell Country Club, in Blue Bell, Pa.

David McIntyre
has been appointed vice president and general manager of the 576-room The Signature at MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Kerry Mitruska has been named director of group sales for the Radisson Aruba Resort and the Radisson St. Martin.

Erik Mrdak
has been named director of food and beverage at the 300-room Oasis Hotel, which opened this month at VictoryLand Greyhound Park in Montgomery, Ala.

The 550-room InterContinental San Francisco has appointed Thane Kuhlman as director of food and beverage.

has been named director of group sales at the 369-room Westin Westminster (Colo.).

Lucianne Agate, CMP,
is director of conference services and catering at the Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club in Aventura, Fla. Two or three times per year, she performs missionary work at an orphanage in Managua, Nicaragua. Agate recently spoke with M&C about the value of community service and how it complements her job.

Where does your missionary work stand in relation to your career?
One of the greatest satisfactions is making things happen from concept to completion. Whether starting and sustaining a learning center for women living in a garbage dump community, teaching them how to cook or sew and learn income-generating trades, or helping clients realize their meeting goals and objectives, you are turning visions into reality. One fuels the other.

What event have you planned that was especially fulfilling? During a familiarization trip for a group of 250 clients and industry professionals, we showcased the resort while giving back to our community. Participants donned aprons and chef hats and worked alongside our chefs to prepare 250 meals for a local homeless shelter. They were absolutely invigorated by the rewarding experience.

Who inspires you? My cousins, who adopted two children with special needs from Nicaragua. It is a selfless act when you open your home and your heart to a child who otherwise would not have much hope.
