Hotel chains are investing
millions in retooling their gyms and pumping up their
fitness options. It’s enough to inspire the most dedicated couch
potato to work out.
For instance: Hilton Hotels & Resorts (
www.hilton.com) in
January teamed up with Bally Total Fitness. The new pairing gives
guests access to Bally gyms in major U.S. cities, with the option
of scheduling a session with a personal trainer. Road warriors with
less time or ambition can work out in their guest rooms with the
Bally-designed Hilton Travel Fit Kit. The complimentary packet
comes complete with hand weights, a yoga mat and exercise
bands.
Not to be outdone, Westin Hotels & Resorts (
www.westin.com) is
touting its WestinWorkout Powered by Reebok facilities. The new
gyms feature the latest in exercise machines, plus a Reebok Core
Training Zone outfitted with specialty tools such as resistance
tubing and stability balls. Also, the company offers Heavenly Bed
Yoga, an in-room fitness program in which guests can perform the
stretches while lying on the chain’s signature mattress and tuned
in to Westin’s in-house custom TV channel.
With the comprehensive Great HealthFit for You program from
Marriott Hotels & Resorts (
www.marriott.com), guests now have the option
of new in-room workout kits, including BodyRev, a portable exercise
device, as well as an accompanying video fitness routine developed
by a former Navy Seal.
