Hilton Hotels has signed the upcoming Virgin Hotels Las Vegas to be part of its Curio Collection. The hotel, which currently operates as the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas, will become part of the luxury-independent collection in 2020, following its renovation and rebranding. Plans call for the property to continue a focus on music and entertainment; it will also participate in the Hilton Honors loyalty program.
Virgin Hotels Las Vegas will become the largest hotel in Hilton's Curio Collection, with more than 1,500 rooms, as well its first in Las Vegas. The property, just off the Strip on Paradise Road, also promises to feature more than 110,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
The hotel will continue full-service operations as the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino until early 2020, when it will be closed to complete the makeover. According to a Virgin Hotels spokesperson, the renovation process will last about eight months, beginning in late summer or early fall of this year. Plans call for the property to remain open through the first half of its renovation and close for the latter half.
"We are looking forward to welcoming Hilton guests who want a premium lifestyle hotel experience in Las Vegas," said Virgin Hotels CEO Raul Leal. "Whether traveling for leisure or in town to attend a conference or convention, Virgin Hotels Las Vegas will be an experience that is dedicated to delivering the best in design, entertainment, heartfelt service and culinary excellence."
Among the changes in store for the brand transformation are a reimagined pool area to "embody the ambience of a private island," as well as all-new guest rooms and the debut of the Commons Club, Virgin's flagship dining and social-club venue. Also on tap is the Shag Room, a "secret den" serving cocktails.
More than 65 hotels currently are part of the Curio Collection, and nearly 60 more are in the pipeline.
