Construction on New Concourse Begins at Bush Intercontinental

United Airlines and the Houston Airport System have broken ground on a new Terminal B south concourse at George Bush Intercontinental Airport, a $160 million project that will replace the existing concourse with a 225,000-square-foot facility serving United's regional flights. Travelers will cross a bridge to the new gates, passing concession areas covering 500 percent more space than the current facility. The new space will open in 2013. Future phases of the airport's $1 billion improvement project call for the redevelopment of Terminal B's central lobby and baggage-claim areas, a new north concourse and infrastructure upgrades, to be finished over the next 10 years.
