Groups soon will have two new properties to choose from in the Texas capital. Already under construction is the 344-room CitizenM Austin Downtown, and ground could be broken by the end of the year on the 330-room Conrad hotel by Hilton, which also will feature 136 residences.

A downtown parking lot will become the site of the 17-story CitizenM. Opening in 2023, the hotel will be the brand's first in the state.

CitizenM Austin Downtown will feature extra-large king-size beds dressed in European linens, and guests will be able to control the TVs, temperature, blinds and lights with their phones and tablets. Also in the plans are a gym, a pool and a rooftop bar.

“As an exciting cultural center and an influential tech and business hub, Austin has been on our radar for years,” said Ernest Lee, CitizenM’s managing director for the Americas. “Now, with the city’s emergence as one of North America’s most important knowledge hubs, it is cementing its place on the national stage. We always pay attention to where our customers are, and feel it’s essential for CitizenM to have a presence in this market as Austin continues to grow.”

Developed by Intracorp Texas, the Conrad will be just west of the Austin Convention Center and will feature several restaurants and space for retail. No details have been shared yet on the rest of the amenities, including the amount of meeting space. The property will be Hilton’s only Conrad in Texas, and the second-tallest tower in the city at 65 stories.
