The Broadmoor Continues to Expand its Offerings

In the three years since I last visited The Broadmoor, a lot has changed. What’s interesting is that most of those changes are not visible on its iconic main campus, set against the mountains in Colorado Springs. That’s not to say there haven’t been updates – most significantly, the West Broadmoor complex has completed an extensive renovation that included a redesign of the the façade and lobby and the addition of 31 guest rooms and suites (including the lavish Parker Suite) and two new restaurants (Ristorante Del Lago and Natural Epicurean) -- but the general look of the property has not changed.

What has changed, all since the resort’s purchase by the Anschutz Corporation in 2011, is the increasing number of off-property offerings. Part of The Broadmoor’s Wilderness Experience portfolio, these include the Ranch at Emerald Valley, which opened two years ago in the heart of the Pike National Forest; Cloud Camp, which opened last year high up on Cheyenne Mountain; Fishing Camp, which opened in June with a main lodge and five miles of private waters; and Seven Falls, which is opening later this month with activities that include the Broadmoor Soaring Adventure and the new Restaurant 1858.

All offer groups a woodsy back-country (or, in the case of Cloud Camp, cliff-side) experience for groups looking to mix things up with a more unique setting for a board retreat or smaller meeting, held either on its own or in conjunction with a larger gathering that utilizes The Broadmoor’s 185,000 square feet of meeting space.
