Thompson Houston Hotel to Be Unveiled in December

Overlooking the Texas city's Buffalo Bayou Park, the 172-room luxury hotel will have more than 17,000 square feet of event space.

The 172-room Thompson Houston, the city's latest luxury hotel, will debut Dec. 21. Overlooking the 160-acre Buffalo Bayou Park just west of downtown, the property aims to blend high-profile design with high-end lifestyle amenities, world-class dining and extraordinary event space.

"After years in the making, we’re thrilled to open Thompson Houston this December," said Ted Knighton, managing director of the hotel. "A sought-after destination for guests and locals alike, Thompson Houston will provide an unparalleled luxury escape for business meetings, weddings, galas, wellness experiences and distinctive dining, in the heart of Houston."

Featuring views of the Texas city's skyline, the futuristic new-build's design includes a sleek glass and steel facade of curved lines, while the interiors use earthy colors, organic materials, brass fixtures and hardwood floors to pay homage to the hotel's parkside setting.

The Thompson Houston will have a large pool deck, the focal point of a one-acre rooftop "living room." The infinity pool will be bordered by cabanas, and guests will be able to order cocktails and bites at the rooftop restaurant and lounge, Sol 7. A 2,500-square-foot greenspace will provide an idyllic setting for outdoor events.

An entire floor will be dedicated to wellness. The area will feature the full-service spa at Thompson Houston with six treatment rooms, a hair-and-nail salon, indoor and outdoor sanctuaries for relaxation, and a state-of-the-art 24-hour fitness center.

Two eclectic restaurants will offer distinct culinary concepts. Opening this coming winter and spring will be a supper-club-style restaurant pairing an elevated dining experience with some of the city’s best entertainment, and a traditional French brasserie offering breakfast, lunch and dinner. Additionally, the hotel will debut a café in partnership with the local Maven Coffee Company

The property will offer more than 17,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space to accommodate groups of up to 800 people, including an 8,000-square-foot ballroom with mesh chandeliers, brass accents and a private terrace. Many of the rooms have wraparound outdoor terraces with views of the city.

The neighboring Buffalo Bayou park has a network of trails and gardens for outdoor activities, from leisurely walks to bike rides and picnics.
