How did you get involved with
the IEA? At the 2003 Power-Gen show in Las Vegas, I had
the opportunity to interview Dr. Joseph Stanislaw, founder and
chairman of Cambridge Energy Research Associates, on CNN’s
Convention News Network. He and I developed a friendship; Dr.
Stanislaw [now vice chairman of the IEA] suggested me for this
position.
What is the goal of the group
concerning global meetings? IEA was founded to host the
annual U.S.-Russia Economic Symposium at the Harvard Club in
Cambridge, Mass., and now co-organizes the annual Global Technology
Symposium at Stanford University. As the number of meetings hosted
and organized by IEA grows, hopefully our “leadership by example”
will speak to the power and value of face-to-face as a
communications medium.
What makes you right for this
position? I’m sure one of the primary factors was the
talented and [meetings] industry-experienced team by which I’m
fortunate to be surrounded. We believe in -- and feel passionate
about -- connecting people to create a better world.
