Beverly Laing is manager of events for the New Jersey Society of CPAs in Roseland, N.J., where she plans 200 conferences, seminars, golf outings and special events a year. An avid golfer, she was previously event manager for the United States Golf Association, Women's Championships and Events division, in Far Hills, N.J.

What was your college major?
I majored in merchandising, but changed to business. I have always loved the arts, and creating fashions was my original dream. Although the result has changed, I consider creating events an art.

What are your stressbusters?
Listening to music, everything from Celtic to Savage Garden. It relaxes me and puts me in a good mood. But a good back massage is the ultimate stressbuster!

Pick a celebrity planning partner.
Mel Gibson. It would be a lot of fun to work with someone who has his sense of humor.

What song would be a good meeting planning anthem?
Maybe the theme from Mission Impossible for the tough assignments, and "Celebrate" for the fun ones.

What's an important life lesson you've learned?
I really feel I've been lucky in my lifetime. In my travels, it's not hard to see that there are many people in this world who are less fortunate. And because of all I've seen, I'm determined to give something back Ñ not for glory, but for peace of mind.

What books are by your bedside?
Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt. I also enjoy New Jersey Monthly magazine and Time Out New York. I find many places of interest to visit in these publications.

Barenthaler and willet team up
Charles Barenthaler and Edward J. Willet Jr. have formed Meetings Solutions, LLC, a meeting and event planning firm in North Arlington, Va. Barenthaler was most recently meeting planner and director of special programs for the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board in Washington, D.C. Willet was formerly a consultant, specializing in designing educational programs, and director of financial oversight and review for the Office of Finance, U.S. House of Representatives.

Moynan Joins NAB
Wesley Moynan is now director of operations for the Washington, D.C.-based National Association of Broadcasters' conventions and expositions department. He was formerly director of trade show operations for the Arlington, Va.-based Consumer Electronics Manufacturers Association and event coordinator for the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

PAIGE moves to ASAE
Sheila Paige is now director of meeting operations for the Washington, D.C.-based American Society of Association Executives. Paige was formerly director of meetings and conventions for the National Association of School Psychologists, based in Bethesda, Md.
