The 2,010-room Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort in Atlantic City will remain open, even though a deal reached between billionaire investor Carl Icahn and Local 54 of the Unite Here union that represents the casino’s 3,000 employees has fallen apart, according to press reports. The bankrupt property was slated to close this weekend, but Icahn, who holds $286 million of the Taj’s debt, has pledged to invest an extra $20 million to keep the casino open during bankruptcy proceedings. He did confirm to the Wall Street Journal that he had not as yet come to a union settlement. Four of the city's 12 gaming resorts have closed this year.TagsHotels and Resorts
