The redesign was spearheaded by global firm Baskervill Radisson Blu
After four years of planning and development, the 500-room Radisson Blu Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn., has completed a propertywide renovation.
The redesign is the hotel's most extensive upgrade since opening in 2013. Drawing inspiration from the state's lakes and waterways, the renovation revolves around three design themes: Silver Bay, Shoreline and Confluence. Curved lines, layered textures and natural materials run throughout the rooms, giving the spaces a distinctly Minnesotan feel.
The renovation comes as Minnesota tourism continues to climb: The state welcomed a record 82.5 million visitors in 2025, with Bloomington accounting for roughly 40 million of them.
"As one of Choice Hotels' flagship properties, the hotel represents what the brand can deliver at its best, so this renovation couldn't be an average refresh," said Alberto Abreu, general manager of the Radisson Blu. "It had to set a new standard for hospitality, and more specifically Minnesota hospitality, and our team delivered on that."
A refreshed options for meetings
The hotel offers 26,300 square feet of event space, including two ballrooms, 14 meeting rooms, and meeting planners have access to on-site catering, A/V services and videoconferencing technology. Like much of the hotel's redesign, the meeting spaces pay tribute to the destination, with rooms named for Minnesota lakes including Minnetonka, Nokomis, Cedar, Harriet and Isles.
Those local influences show up in the food-and-beverage program, too. For its part, the FireLake Grill House & Cocktail Bar sources from regional suppliers, including Lift Bridge Brewing Co., Red Table Meat Co. and Stickney Hill Dairy.
Easy access to the mall and beyond
One of the hotel's biggest draws for groups is its location. Attendees can walk directly to Mall of America via the property's skyway connection or venture into Minneapolis between sessions.
The hotel is just minutes from Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport and offers complimentary airport shuttle service. Downtown Minneapolis and the METRO Blue Line are also nearby, giving attendees straightforward access to the broader Twin Cities area.
