Montara Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton has opened in Heredia, Costa Rica, marking the brand’s first foray into the country and Central America. The 97-room hotel, including 38 suites, occupies approximately 540,000 square feet of grounds in the mountains overlooking the Central Valley, about 13 miles from Juan Santamaría International Airport and downtown San José.
The longtime local retreat has been renovated with contemporary interiors inspired by the surrounding landscape, with guest rooms that overlook the mountains, gardens and private lakes, some featuring balconies and fire pits. An extensive art collection created specifically for the property, showcasing works by local artists, has also been installed.

Meetings in the mountains
The hotel offers approximately 12,700 square feet of event and gathering space for meetings, with indoor venues complemented by outdoor settings throughout the grounds, giving groups plenty of opportunity to spread out.
The location lends itself particularly well to groups looking to build some fresh air into the agenda, too, with nearby attractions like Braulio Carrillo National Park, Poás Volcano and La Paz Waterfall Gardens, offering options for off-site excursions. For attendees looking to tack a few days onto the trip, the hotel can serve as a jumping-off point for visits to other Costa Rican destinations, including La Fortuna and Tortuguero.
Wellness and dining
A 13,200-square-foot spa offers hydrotherapy, facial treatments and holistic therapies, while open-air decks, meditation areas and private nature trails give attendees a chance to unwind between sessions.
At Bosco, the hotel keeps its local influence front and center at mealtime as well. The signature restaurant incorporates seasonal ingredients sourced in part from farmers, artisans and producers in Heredia and surrounding communities, with fresh herbs and seasonal vegetables supplied by an on-site organic garden. Santoro, a fine-dining steakhouse led by international chef Regis Molina, specializes in fire-based cooking and features an open kitchen, while the hotel’s other options include the 1998 Lobby Bar and a juice bar near the pool and fitness areas.
Sustainability efforts round out the property’s nature-minded approach, with solar panels, LED lighting, electric maintenance and landscaping equipment, rainwater collection, hydration stations and a wastewater treatment system designed to reuse water for irrigation.
