A 505-room hotel project at New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport has been approved by the Port Authority board of commissioners. The property, slated to open in 2018, will be built in the iconic TWA Flight Center building, designed by Eero Saarinen and opened in 1962. It is being developed by Flight Center Hotel LLC, a partnership of MCR Development and JetBlue Airways Corp. The hotel will have 40,000 square feet of meeting space, several restaurants, a spa and a 10,000-square-foot observation deck. The complex will feature two six-story hotel towers and an energy-management system that will allow the building to generate its own power.
