Renaissance Chicago Downtown Wraps Up $32 Million Renovation

The 560-room Renaissance Chicago Downtown has completed both phases of its $32 million renovation. The recently wrapped Phase II has resulted in the new, 3,000-square-foot Looking Glass Ballroom, with views over the Chicago River, a total addition of 4,000 square feet of meeting space.

A new rooftop bar, Raised, also was added, and includes a private event space called Urban Blue. Phase I, which was completed in May 2015, debuted a new lobby, left, and redesigned guest rooms.

The existing Cloud Gate Ballroom has been expanded from 3,000 to 4,000 square feet, and the third-floor breakout rooms have been renamed the Adler, Lyric and Improv, to reflect Chicago history and landmarks.

The recently revamped lobby includes such features as a communal "Navigator Table," a twist on the concierge desk. Stadium-style seating in the lobby area was installed for the hotel's Celebrate the Neighborhood Events series, hosting live performances by local musicians, mixology demonstrations, wine tastings, art exhibitions and more, held from 5 to 9 p.m. nightly.
