Under Canvas Opens Luxury Camp in Montana

Steps from the Yellowstone River in Paradise Valley, the 50-acre site offers luxury glamping perfect for incentive winners.

Under Canvas has opened its 11th luxury camp in Paradise Valley, Mont., on 50 acres of ranchland near the north entrance of Yellowstone National Park, 45 minutes from Bozeman. Under Canvas North Yellowstone–Paradise Valley is the brand’s second camp near Yellowstone National Park and its third in Montana.

Set on a plain with views of the Absaroka Mountain Range, the camp is steps from the Yellowstone River, giving guests more than a mile of access for fly fishing, river adventures, hiking and horseback riding. Also a short walk from the camp is the Pine Creek Lodge, where top bluegrass, rock and country artists from around the country come to perform.

"The debut of our newest camp marks a significant milestone for the brand, a full-circle moment as our first-ever camp is located near West Yellowstone," said Matt Gaghen, CEO of Under Canvas. "We are delighted to expand access to the vast wonders of the Greater Yellowstone region, immersing guests in the renowned natural beauty, wildlife, ranchlands and Western culture for which Yellowstone is celebrated."

Luxury in the details

The camp features 50 safari-inspired canvas tents with king-size beds, luxe linens, USB charging packs, bedside lanterns, wood-burning stoves, private decks with views and ensuite bathrooms (hot shower, sink and flushing toilet). The Stargazer Tent has a window above the bed allowing guests to view the night sky as they drift off to sleep. The Yellowstone River Suite Tent features two tents adjoined by a private deck, a private firepit and an outdoor area, where the primary tent features a bedroom wing with a king bed, a lounge area with a queen-size sofa bed, a bathroom, a wood stove and a private deck, and the adjoining tent includes two twin beds and a bathroom.

The main lobby tent is adorned with contemporary, mountain-inspired indoor/outdoor furnishings from West Elm and design features honoring the region’s storied ranch history. Embers, the café-style dining concept, is a communal hub where guests can indulge in indoor or al fresco dining while soaking in the riverfront setting. The menu serves up seasonal salads, charcuterie, locally caught trout, grains, vegan and vegetarian dishes, as well as Montana-inspired BBQ meats smoked daily on property. Grab-and-go options also are available for lunch items and snacks to take on the day’s adventure.

On-site programming and experiences include acoustic live music, daily yoga, kids activities and more, along with off-site adventures such as horseback riding, Yellowstone River wooden boat floats, guided hiking tours, fly-fishing and whitewater rafting.

New this year, Under Canvas and global environmental nonprofit the Nature Conservancy have come together to help fund conservation and raise awareness through education, volunteer efforts and donation programs. The hospitality brand’s commitment also includes efforts to minimize its overall environmental footprint in the areas of waste management, water use, and special lighting that minimizes light pollution to maximize the enjoyment of the night sky.
